I liked it a lot, it was generally a great story,
(I only felt that the first chapters went a bit too far, but hey, a dark background story for the main character has to be DARK.)
I really loved the slow-burn kind of romance, the main characters ^_^ and I also loved each and every member of the Selvatore family.

#1 manhwa I’ve read. Really the best. I’ll score it 100/100. The illustrations are so so pretty and the story, the plot is very great too. You won’t regret reading this and also I knew that this is not a true story but marquis sperado really made my blood boil like I hate him very very much. And I also cried thinking what Leslie has been through and I pity thos childs very much, they died at early age just because for the poelwer. I’m glad that finally they found their light.
I first found out this story in this site but as chapter goes by (Chapter 70+) the translations gets weird, and I noticed it that’s why I searched the stories in other sites and found it. I wanted to post the link here or name of the site but it will be rude of me to do it here. This is a different site so we should respect it, if you find any weird translation, then just search om your own the story and you”ll find it. Don’t post names or links of other sites here, it’ rude.
Anyways, very thankful for this site for recommending me such a great story.

This is an amazing story the cover is misleading…the Duke is a women ….its a bout a child who is sacrificed to demons if I rem correctly in order to transfer power to her the favored blonde child … only it dosent go down as planned…. the smart girl knows she needs protection so she hides her tremendous powers to control darkness and goes to the sword of the empire even the royal family can’t control them ….and they take her in and smother her with love for the first time in her life ….. the giant teddy bears ..the huge dad is my fav …..trust me its amazing manga

That is true, but in this case, this does not apply since Azela “the Duke Salvator” is not the wife of a Duke, she inherited the title, so she is Duke in her own right.

This story is good and definitely worth a try.
Pros:
1. Characters are likeable and have depth to them.
2. Plot is fleshed out.
3. Romance is good and not at all cheesy.
4. It portrays strong female characters.
Cons:
1. Power levels are messed up. You can never tell who’s strong and who’s weak.
2. No memorable combat techniques even though the story has quite some inclination towards action. Combat in this manhwa is a bit bad.
3. Plot takes a ridiculous turn sometimes and it doesn’t make sense. An example would be Duke Sperado running away with the epitheli-something box. They caught him easily but he got away just so that the plot could be lengthened.
4. Female lead many times acts very weak, and it’s difficult to tell whether her shadow power is weak or powerful since it keeps changing as per plot convinience. The female lead also doesn’t show excellence in anything as far as I could see. She wants to be like her mother but she didn’t seem to be good at sword and neither at magic. She didn’t look impressive even when using her shadow magic.

I love the story especially with the interactions with the Salvator family and Leslie but I guess I expected to see Leslie used her power and intimidate anyone in a powerful scene sense. Though it was nice to see them really care for her and the way they didn’t want her to carry the burden of using her powers and the consequences she could face.
