Oof, he’s a whipping boy. IDK why old-timey ppl thought that would work, since most of the nobility were conditioned from a young age not to see commonors as real humans whose suffering carries equal weight to their own. So it seems like punishing the whipping boy for the noble kids failings is just a way give them a taste for sadism – or maybe just innure them to innocents suffering because of their failings/for their amusement from a young age. So they don’t feel the need to change the system when they grow up and see the suffering beyond their ivory towers for the first time.
