His attitude makes sense if you think about HIS perspective. He wasn’t actually conscious when she saved him OR when he saved her. He’s also a child that’s been taken in by the very people who relentlessly beat him, who lost his mother who tried to save him, and who has never had security. Its a lot easier to be suspicious of kindness when he doesn’t understand her motive and can’t predict when her attitude will change. Based on his lived experience, her attitude WILL change or he’ll have to start pulling his weight eventually. In the past, that was through odd jobs AND abuse. So yea, it makes sense that he’s gonna take a while to warm up to them. And he clearly kinda cares about her, or else why would he comfort her or go for the doctor???
