I must write this motif off as a joke. Surely the translation team of this fine work does not count but a tattoo on the child’s face as a disfigurement of sorts. If you wish to see a true disfigured man, who was also a powerful pillar of history, look towards no other than Baldwin IV, the leper king of Jerusalem. I feel saddened to compare his saintly but miserable existance to a tattooed child.
