   That smile, it might also be a pity instead of revenge. That human suffers a different kind of suffering than the fairy and her beloved. And she knows that. So that smile is probably her last gift as she pity him, for he will never find his peace and happiness.

   uh, yes! If you love her, you should want her to be happy! Forcing her to stay, like in the story, will end up making you both miserable. That’s not love.
