It’s not being pathetic. The second empress won according to the rules of the duel. The knight broke their honor by attacking again with the intention to hurt. Not to mention her sword broke. Only a seasoned warrior will be able to react to those circumstances. Any normal person would be dead if she was not saved. Let’s keep our expectations within the confines of the narrative, shall we?

The empress isn’t weak, she won the duel by the set guidelines. However, the knight was upset that he lost and knowing that the empress was playing by the rules he decided to attack again after any other knight would have conceded defeat. The only way she could have responded is to finish him off while her sword was still at his neck or fight back. She likely didn’t want to kill the knight either because the kids were watching or due to the consequences of having to explain it to the emperor or bad rumors circulating so instead she blocked but her sword broke. At this point, she exhausted her options since she didn’t want to kill him and she no longer had a weapon that she could safely block with so she closed her eyes expecting that she would die. Please don’t hatefully comment on something if you lack the ability to comprehend the narrative,. Instead ask questions to help clear any confusion you have. I’m sure many people on here would be happy to explain the situation so that other readers could enjoy the story at a deeper level.
