It’s the author’s fault. It doesn’t make any sense why an old established family would just let her father who just came in as an in law would remain an heir and holder of that title. It also doesn’t make sense that the elders let the nanny a commoner continue wrecking havock within their estate and wasting their money. Rather it would make sense if the family vassals or elders would push their daughters or nieces from collateral family replace her mother. To keep the blood. Nobles are known for keeping the blood within the family think GOT the, Targareans or the Brits.
