   Huh? Marquess is beneath duke in rank. Even though duke is usually for related blood of imperial and marquess is for the non related, once you’re a duke, I don’t think they can reduce your rank just because you’re non related. Right? And how tf is that a reward???

      Here’s the thing-
      You have a two, and the oldest will be the male parent’s successor. The second would take the title and land granted by the emperor.

      So to answer your question yes a marquis is below a Duke but multiple titles can be given to the same person but normally they are called by their highest title which is Duke but he would also be a marquis now.

      I’m not sure the author intended this but calling him a marquis would also be a bit of a slight to a Duke as marquis are normally defenders of undeveloped regions or a frontier thus granted higher standing however the only reason i
