I don’t understand why she would side with the queen when she knows that her husband is the hero of the novel and therefore destined to win. She knows what side is losing and sided with them anyway.

Though, I am fairly certain she is going to feed the queen half truths and false information mixed with some simple truths that won’t hurt the prince. The prince probably falls in love with her though, based on the name and cover of this novel. If that happens, it is unlikely she is fully siding with the queen.
