Here’s my thoughts: her mother apparently stole from the imperial family, which sounds quite ridiculous, but it’s possible if there was some sort of connection. I think the emperor is Ellie’s biological father. This chapter helps prove this theory with her ability to speak to animals and her golden hair.

I think so, too. That and they only said that the thief stole the imperial palaces greatest treasure. They didn’t say what that treasure was. I’m wondering if Ellie could be the treasure she stole. Like maybe the emperor knew that she was pregnant with an imperial child but then she ran away? And the mom told Ellie that she did it “for her” so maybe she ran away with her to keep her away from the psychotic emperor dude. (Calling him a psycho bc so far he seems like one since he killed ml’s parents and waged a totally uncalled for war on the tribes)

My thought rn is that her mother is tribe people like the late duchess perhaps they could be related maybe late duchess is her mother’s sister?
