1) Kayena and Regef are not blood siblings. Kayena finds out eventually, while Regef already knows this and develops feelings for her.
2) Kayena is acting more like a mother because Regef hasn’t known love of a parent, and wants to influence him to be a better person so he doesn’t kill her again.
