“Oh hey, you’re so incompetent that you let a man from the church do the simplest procedure in all of this of stitching my son back up. Which i don’t believe he was competent enough to do without your constant supervision. even though I know it’s something that even knights know how to do. So I will scream at my daughter, and you, and say this man I didn’t think was competent enough on his own is a better doctor than you and threaten to hang you out of no where.”
Pretty sure he either got told that Rhena is a girl and his misogyny is showing, or he’s been given some kind of drug to make him highly irritable. Either way, the king seems highly out of character and illogical in this chapter. It’s truly annoying that such conflict feels so incredibly forced in this chapter.

I also felt the same way. It’s a total 360 from how they’ve shown him so far, especially as a loving father. For him to be upset at the situation is one thing, but for him to talk so poorly to his daughter is another. I wonder if Damien is going to find out and if Vania is going to be upset with her father until he apologizes. No matter how anxious and upset he is, that was just unacceptable.
